Art Work (M.C. Escher and Andy Warhol)

We studied the artwork of M.C. Escher. He used tessellations in his artwork. This tied in with the topic that we had been working on in maths. Children created some fantastic pieces using shapes that repeated, but did not overlap or leave gaps.

We also discussed the work of Andy Warhol. He wanted art to be popular amongst the ordinary people. His work was called "Pop-art". The children used everyday items, or symbols to reflect their interests, to replicate the style of Andy Warhol.
