Term 1 in Fourth Class

We have had a great start to 4th Class this year. We have been working hard in all subjects across the curriculum, but have also been involved in lots of fun activities.

We started September by looking to the past. We were learning about Schools in the Past and did some excellent drawings of what schools looked like long ago. We also went on a Field Trip to the village and Monivea Woods to investigate minibeasts and to identify trees in the local area. We had a checklist of the bugs and trees that we could identify, and then we drew them when we were back at school.

We were also learning about litter and waste, so we decided to do a clean-up of our school grounds, using litter pickers. We found lots of litter but had fun picking it up.

In History, we learnt about the Ancient Egyptians, which was very interesting. We wrote our names in Hieroglyhics, researched the lives of Ancient Egyptians on the i-pads, designed our own Death Masks, and made pyramids, mummies and sarcophogi. In Science, we learned about how the Ancient Egyptians used levers and pulleys to construct the pyramids. So, we investigated what we could do with levers and pulleys using items in our pencil cases!
